France mulls €1bn tax-grab on Google, report

By Press Gazette

Google could face a €1bn tax bill in France, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

Despite annual revenue in France estimated at well in excess of €1bn a year, Google's tax bill is in the single figure millions.

In the UK Google reported revenue last year of £3.6bn yet is expected to pay a tiny proportion of that in tax. in 2012, Google paid £11.6m UK tax on UK income of £3bn.

Now officially the biggest media company in the world, Google keeps it tax bill low by funnelling profits into low-tax jurisdictions such as Ireland.
