Rumours that Colin Grant, former editor of the Cambridge Evening News, is to return to the title as editor-in-chief have been proved true it emerged this morning.
Holdthefrontpage reports that the current Herts & Essex newspapers executive is to begin a second stint at the Evening News following last week’s sudden departure of Murray Morse. Grant left the paper in 2004 and will now begin his new role on 12 May.
Evening News owners Illife News and Media are reportedly seeking an editor to replace Morse.
Morse tells Press Gazette this week that he left because the paper held no challenge for him any longer, though some staff assert that his abrupt exit had more to do with the new management structure.
On Monday staff passed a spontaneous vote of no confidence in the paper’s management over their role in Morse’s departure.
