The BBC has refused to confirm or deny claims that crime
correspondent Neil Bennett and community affairs reporter Barnie
Choudhury will be the first newsroom staff to take voluntary redundancy
as part of a drive to slim down its social affairs unit.
It was suggested on Wednesday that the pair were on the move and were unlikely to accept other jobs at the BBC.
Neither
have commented on the claims, and a BBC spokesman would say only that
voluntary redundancy proposals were still under discussion with the
unions.
The broadcaster announced in March it was proposing to close 10 out of 67 posts in its social affairs unit.
