Veteran magazine publisher Felix Dennis has predicted that “dozens more” magazines will follow the lead of the Christian Science Monitor and ditch their print editions – or “fade away”.
In an interview for the Daily Telegraph’s new weekly media page, the Dennis Publishing founder said the group was forecast to make 40 per cent of its revenue from online in 2009, compared with what he said was an industry average of 15 per cent.
“The western world is not going to come apart at the seams because we’re having a recession,” Dennis says.
