The Newcastle Chronicle and The Journal’s Newspapers in Education
team has won a national accolade for its work with five Tyne & Wear
family learning programmes.
It received the 2004 Family Learning
Week Award for its publication Family Times, which was written and
designed by the family learning groups. A team of adults and children
from across Tyne & Wear worked together to produce the 12- page
full colour newspaper. It was printed on Newcastle Chronicle and
Journal presses, with 4,000 copies distributed across the region.
Kay
Thompson, Newspapers in Education manager for the Chronicle and The
Journal, said: “The credit must go to the adults and children who
worked so hard to learn how to use the computers, write the stories and
meet the deadlines. They did a wonderful job.”
