Axegrinder hears that Express Newspapers has decided to open its doors to two new graduate trainees this year, despite the fact that half of last year’s intake were given the chop after only a couple of weeks due to a change of mind by management.
Of the new intake, one is on the newsdesk while the other is on the newspaper’s diary page, Day & Night.
Meanwhile, Axegrinder is happy to report that those from last year’s intake appear to be going from strength to strength, including Helen Dowd (who was one of the ones to face the chop last year only to then get her job back) who is now on the features desk, while Katy Taylor-Richards is a rising political hack at the Sunday Express.
