A former BBC and Sky News reporter has fled to Spain in a bid to avoid trial for breaching a restraining order which banned her from contacting a football chairman, reports the BBC.
Tara Stout was due to appear in court last week to face charges of breaching a restraining order after she allegedly contacted Crystal Palace chair Simon Jordan again.
At a hearing to set a new trial date after Stout failed to turn up on the scheduled date last week, it emerged that police learnt of her apparent reason for her absence in an recent interview with the Croydon Advertiser.
Prosecutor Sally Mertens said Stout told the paper she had gone to Spain because she did not think she would get a fair trial in the UK.
