‘Endless scoops, totally fair, best sources’: Independent political editor Andy Grice to leave role after 17 years

Independent political editor Andy Grice is to leave his role after 17 years.

According to the newspaper, he will continue to write for the title.

Editor Amol Rajan tweeted this afternoon: "[The] Independent has been blessed with finest Political Editor in Fleet St for 17yrs. Andy Grice moving to a writing role. Can't thank him enough for phenomenal job. Endless scoops, totally fair, best sources. Delighted he'll still be writing for us.”

Guido Fawkes reported managing editor Sean O’Grady as saying that Grice will be standing down “later in the summer”.

He reportedly said in an email to staff: “We all know what an amazing job he has done and the debt we owe to him. Happily, Andy will continue to contribute to our titles. Applications are therefore invited to fill some exceptionally big shoes.”
