Sunday Times journalist Giles Hattersley has been confirmed as the new editor of Arena.
Hattersley,
27, has held the position of chief interviewer for the Sunday Times,
the youngest in its history. He the youngest ever journalist to write
the cover story for the Sunday Times Magazine.
Hattersley began
his career at the Sunday Times after graduating with an MA in fashion
journalism from St Martins College of Art and Design. After a brief
stint as a junior journalist on the Style Section, he moved to the News
Review to become senior features writer.
He replaces Will Drew who left the Emap men's monthly in a major reshuffle at the publishers in mid February.
At
the time, Ross Brown left FHM and its former editor Anthony Noguera who
was appointed editor-in-chief – in addition to his responsibility as
editor-in-chief of Emap East ‘s portfolio of men's magazines – Arena,
Arena Homme Plus and Zoo. Ben Todd took over the editor's chair at Zoo.
Hattersley
will be charged with turning around Arena's fortunes – the title
slumped to 34,556 sales in the last ABCs, down 29.9 per cent year on
year. Hattersley joins Emap on 19 March.
