Elton sues New! over ‘sell-off’ story

By Press Gazette

Elton John is suing for libel damages over a story in New! magazine.

He complains that a story headed “Elton sells off his bits”, which appeared on 23 September, was defamatory.

He is claiming damages for libel, and seeking a High Court injunction against publishers Chic Magazines banning repetition of the words about which he complains. John, whose musical career spans more than 30 years, hopes to win unspecified damages of more than £15,000 if his claim is successful.
