Eamonn Holmes signs new three-year deal at Sky News

By Press Gazette

Eamonn Holmes has signed a new three-year deal to host his breakfast show Sunrise on Sky News.

According to a statement released this morning Sky News viewing figures for Sunrise have risen 140 per cent since Holmes joined in 2005, and were up 21 per cent in the last year.

John Ryley, the head of Sky News, said: “Eamonn and his Sunrise team are a favourite with our viewers. The show has consistently high ratings and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it develop over the last six years.

‘Eamonn is a true pro and will continue to present Sunrise with wit and flair.’

Holmes added: ‘I’ve had a really fulfilling six years at Sky News. I have a tremendous team on Sunrise and we know from our audience feedback that people enjoy starting their day with the way we deliver the news.”

The news follows speculation about who will replace presenters Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles on ITV1’s rival breakfast programme Daybreak.
