Prime Minister David Cameron visited the offices of Trinity Mirror subsidiary BPM today, publisher of the Birmingham Mail and Birmingham Post.
Cameron took time out of his visit to the city to open a new college for a meeting with editorial director and Birmingham Mail editor Dave Brookes and Birmingham Post editor Alun Thorne
He was later interviewed by political editor Jon Walker before having a tour of the newsroom.
Trinity said this was the first time Cameron had visited the offices of BPM Media as Prime Minister, having previously met staff in 2009 when he was Leader of the Opposition.
Birmingham Post Editor Alun Thorne said: “We only found out at short notice that the Prime Minister was in town so we were delighted to welcome him to BPM Media and have the opportunity not only to talk to him about the challenges facing the city but also secure an exclusive interview during such an exceptionally busy period for him following the recent reshuffle.”
