The South London Press has made monkeys out of local councillors in its campaign to save a children’s zoo. Every Wandsworth councillor who voted to close the zoo in Battersea Park was pictured in the SLP with the body of a monkey, while those against were depicted as wise owls. The SLP claims more than 10,500 residents are backing its campaign to save the zoo along with London Mayor Ken Livingstone and celebrities Bob Geldof and Dannii Minogue. SLP series editor Hannah Walker said: “The campaign has received a tremendous response. The authorities have so far blatantly decided to snub public opinion. But the South London Press will continue to fight for the thousands of people who want to save the zoo.”
