Gateshead Council is strengthening its media relations team with four new recruits.
Senior communications officer Rachel Woodcock has a strong magazine background, having worked for Radio Times, Top of the Pops and Star magazines. Most recently, she was editor of S Club Style.
Communications executive Sam Reed leaves a position as an account manager for local PR agency Persuasion PR, where she managed campaigns for a range of clients including Tynedale Council.
Communications assistant Katy Kidson has left her post at Metro newspaper, where she compiled entertainment listings.
Karen Wake joins the council as a part-time new campaign communications officer for fostering and adoption, having worked on promotional videos for community groups such as Inside Out.
“Rachel, Sam, Katy and Karen will add fresh talent and ideas to the tremendous range of skills we already have in the communications team,” said head of communications Robert Schopen.
