Press Gazette has opened nominations for the first Citizen Journalism Awards.
The award, presented in association with Nokia, recognises the growing importance of contributions by "the former audience" to news reporting in the UK.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be looking for the best examples of citizen journalism, user-generated content or witness contributions that have been used in mainstream media over the past 12 months.
The competition is open to all non-professional contributors and will be judged by a distinguished panel including Channel 4 presenter Jon Snow.
