Former head of news at Channel Five Chris Shaw has been appointed to the newly created role of editorial director at ITN Productions.
Shaw, who had been at Five for 11 years, was senior programme controller in charge of news and live topical output prior to the purchase of the channel by Express Newspaper’s owner Richard Desmond.
He is was one of several senior figures to take voluntary redundancy following Desmond’s £103m takeover in July.
In his new role, Shaw will have a brief to expand news and current affairs production and come up with new formats across television, online and mobile.
Shaw worked for ITN before joining Five and has also been programme editor for News at Ten, home and foreign news editor for Channel 4 News and was launch editor of Big Breakfast News.
