China consumer media role forAsano

By Press Gazette

Global information company Reuters has appointed Glenn Asano to the newly created role of head of consumer media for China.

The move reflects the growing opportunities for Reuters financial and business information services in one of the world’s fastest growing consumer markets.

Based in Beijing, Asano will lead the marketing and business development of Reuters financial and business information in the emerging consumer online, mobile and television markets in China. He will focus on building Reuters’ brand, products and partners in these areas.

Asano has 15 years’ experience in the media and information technology industries, and has spent the past four years managing Reuters’ media business in Asia.

In the early Nineties, he cofounded Starfish Systems, a company that provides real-time satellite and internet-delivered financial information systems.

Asano is a non-executive director of Asian News International (ANI) in India and is an adviser to China Online.
