Peter Charlton has been appointed to the combined editorship of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post.
From 7 May Charlton will take on the role of editorial director for Yorkshire Post Newspapers Limited, with responsibility for both Yorkshire dailies.
Meanwhile, former Yorkshire Evening Post boss Paul Napier will take on the newly-created role of group editorial director, with a focus on digital. He will report to digital and business director Henry Faure Walker, digital and business development director.
Charlton will continue reporting to Helen Oldham, the managing director of Yorkshire Post Newspapers Limited.
In the second half of 2011 both of the Leeds-based titles lost sales. The Yorkshire Evening Post fell 10.9 per cent year on year to 34,851 sales and the Yorkshire Post fell 4.4 per cent to 38,411
