The NSPCC’s Your Family magazine, the first news stand title to be
produced by a charity, hits the streets this week with a distribution
of 800,000.
The free quarterly parenting title, produced in
partnership with contract publisher Redwood, will be available in 400
Woolworths stores and will potentially reach ten times as many parents
as the current paid-for market leader, Emap’s Mother and Baby .
The
first issue features an interview with celebrity mum Gail Porter, tips
on bringing up happy children, advice on dealing with bullying and
real-life new parent diaries.
NSPCC director of communications
John Grounds said: “Our aim is to reach as many parents of young
children as possible, and to deliver some quite complex messages about
positive parenting.
“As well as promoting communication between
parents and children and understanding of why children behave in
certain ways, we also want parents to recognise the NSPCC as a
potential source of help and advice.”
The magazine is looking for
freelances who are interested in writing for Your Family . Editor
Susannah Pearce can be contacted on 020 7747 0862.
