Prime Minister David Cameron was guest of honour at the annual fundraising reception for the Journalists’ Charity at the Ireland Embassy in London last night.
He told guests: “I am the first serving British Prime Minister to come to the Embassy. There’s a great relationship between Britain and the Republic of Ireland…and I’m enjoying a glass of Guinness.”
Calling for a new sense of responsibility between politicians and the press he said: “I am at an early stage of my premiership when you can just about open a newspaper without foaming at the mouth and falling over backwards.”
