The Birmingham Mail has increased its readership, but lost paying readers following its £1m relaunch, according to a survey by GfK NOP Media.
In spring 2005, the research claims the Mail had 246,000 average issue readers. But this spring the figure increased to 252,000 and readers per copy had gone up from 2.5 to 2.9 per cent.
However the paper has predicted a sharp sales slide for January to June. Editor Steve Dyson (right) has a number of initiatives including more free offers for readers and earlier issuing of race cards.
