The Broadcast Journalism Training Council has praised Highbury College in Portsmouth for its “excellent” broadcast course.
Students had to run a BBC newsroom with bulletins every hour while industry experts from the council assessed their work.
Members of the panel said they had “no criticisms of any aspect of the course” and congratulated staff for delivering an “excellent” programme.
They went on to praise the students for producing high-quality TV work and news bulletins.
Head of media and journalism Peter Moutray said: “Highbury is the first college or university in the country to receive full accreditation for a 20-week broadcast journalism course.”
Former Highbury journalism students include ITV’s Mark Austin and Chris Cramer from CNN.
