The finalists for the Press Gazette British Press Awards 2009 will be announced at 4pm today.
Some 540 entries have been received for the 24 award categories – with every national newspaper group in the UK taking part.
All the entries have been read and scored by 88 judges drawn from a mixture of senior independent figures from the world of journalism, regional press editors and two representatives from each national newspaper title.
The winners will be announced at Grosvenor House in London on 31 March.
