Big Brother contestant Makosi Musambasi has settled a libel case against The Sun at the High Court over claims she was a professional actor and had bypassed the reality game show's audition process.
The Zimbabwean former nurse, 26, who came third in the fifth season of Big Brother in 2005, sued the newspaper over claims made in a story from August 2005 headlined "Big Con". The story referred to an invoice from a talent agency to Big Brother which, the article alleged, was payment for professional video made on Makosi's behalf.
Her solicitor David Price said in a statement in open court today: "In fact, as The Sun now recognises, the invoice was wholly unconnected with Makosi, who went through the normal audition process.
"Makosi was hurt and embarrassed by the article and was not prepared to allow these incorrect allegations to go unchallenged."
Makosi accepted the paper's offer of amends and Price said she is ready to "let the matter rest".
