Every major newspaper group has entered the British Press Awards this year meaning for the second-year running the event is free from the boycotts that have affected it previously.
The deadline for entries passed on Tuesday and the judging process will begin next week. More than 100 journalists from national and regional newspapers, wires and agencies will judge the 18 individual and team categories.
The British Press Awards Academy will judge the three premier awards of Newspaper of the Year, Journalist of the Year and International Journalist of the Year.
Channel 4 news anchor Jon Snow, who will host the awards again, said: ‘It’s a great event. I’m never sure how I’ll go down – it’s about the most critical audience anywhere.”
The shortlist of awards finalists will be announced on www.pressgazette.co.uk from midday on 3 March. For table bookings at the gala awards ceremony see PressGazette.co.uk, email mturton@pressgazette.co.uk or ring 020 7324 2382.
