Real Radio in Yorkshire has won the award for radio news at the 2003 NTL Commercial Radio awards.
The 13-strong team, headed by James Rea, was praised by the judges for its dedication and professionalism.
Among the stories covered by Real Radio during its first year on air, the Yorkshire news team brought full coverage of the sacking of Leeds United Football Club manager David O’Leary and family interviews from one of the country’s worst house fires, which killed eight people in Huddersfield.
