Pick up any national broadsheet or tabloid these days and you will
spot news stories which declare: “…it has emerged…it has
emerged…it has emerged…”
If reporters are sitting back and
waiting for stories to “emerge”, does this signal the end of
investigative journalism? The world exclusives?
Proud claims like: “I was the first journalist on the spot to witness …”?
Sadly I sense a bleak newswriting trend emerging.
